Through the ARTEFFECT Ambassadors fellowship, I hope to show my students that history is not just about the past; it is about people who were once young, uncertain, and searching for their place in the world, just like them. These individuals chose to act with courage and creativity, and in doing so, they made lasting contributions to a better society. As an art educator, I believe that creativity can be a bridge between past and present.
Sarah Pascual holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Arts from Jacksonville University, earned in 2008, and began her teaching career in 2013. She has taught a wide range of subjects and grade levels, which has shaped her into an educator who values curiosity, creativity, and the connections between disciplines. Pascual currently serves as the art teacher and department chair at Sol C. Johnson High School in Savannah, Georgia, where she teaches Art Comprehensive 1–3, Ceramics 1, and International Baccalaureate (IB) Art 1–2. She guides students through both foundational skills and advanced inquiry, helping them build artistic technique while developing personal voice and critical thinking. What motivates her most as an educator is empowering students to see art as a means of self-discovery and social impact. Pascual believes every student has the capacity to create meaningful work that reflects their individuality and contributes to their community. Her goal is to foster confidence, resilience, and a lifelong appreciation for the power of creative expression.
