Ramona Abraham Coley
Visual Art Educator, NYC Museum School | New York, NY

I am particularly drawn to ARTEFFECT’s structured approach to project-based learning. By combining narrative research with visual execution, students not only enhance their artistic skills but also gain a deeper understanding of history, civic responsibility, and personal agency.

Ramona Abraham Coley is a passionate visual arts educator, creative leader, and community builder who believes that art has the transformative power to shape young people’s self-perception and understanding of the world. Over the past 15 years, Coley has skillfully integrated hands-on studio work with digital storytelling, empowering students to discover their voices and share meaningful narratives. As an AI Fellow for NYC DOE and an Adobe Education Leader, she designs culturally sensitive projects that bridge the gap between history and personal identity. These projects encompass pastel portraits that honor heritage and student-led media clubs that amplify social justice. Her students’ work has been exhibited at prestigious institutions like MoMA and the MET, showcasing her conviction that every young artist possesses the potential to inspire positive change. Coley holds a Master of Art degrees in Art Education and English Education and a Master of Science in School Building and District Leadership from Brooklyn College.
