Jessi Vacca
Visual Art Teacher, Thomas Jefferson Independent Day School | Joplin, MO

I am particularly excited about the opportunity for creative collaboration with peers, since I am part of a small school community with only one other art teacher. . . I hope to work together to bring awareness of the role art can play in a social-emotional environment to our students in new ways, incorporating the nuances of what it means to be a hero on both a small and large scale.

Jessi Vacca is an experienced and passionate art educator serving students from Pre-K through 12th grade at a private school in Joplin, Missouri. She brings a hands-on, process-oriented approach to her teaching, with a strong foundation in art history that helps students connect their creative work to broader cultural and historical contexts. Committed to nurturing the whole child, Vacca also leads monthly social-emotional learning sessions for 6th grade, integrating empathy, self-awareness, and community into the classroom environment. As a mother of three, residing at their own mini farm, she draws daily inspiration from both family life and the natural world, weaving these influences into her teaching to create rich, meaningful learning experiences. Vacca is eager to expand her practice through collaborative learning, reflection, and continued growth as an art educator.
