I have always been excited about bringing more attention to American and world leaders of all backgrounds who have not received recognition in textbooks and traditional lessons. I also want to incorporate more art into my courses to enhance engagement and expression. I have a strong bond with the other teachers at my school, and I believe we can create more cross-curricular projects together.
Jennifer Harrington grew up in San Diego. She graduated from the University of California, Davis with a major in History and a minor in Political Science, and she studied abroad at the University of London. Harrington earned her teaching credentials in Social Science and English and her master’s degree in education from the University of California, Irvine. She wrote a book about teaching social science with her mentor teacher and has graded AP national exams both on-location and online. Her husband is an AP U.S. History and Economics teacher at Woodbridge, and her stepchildren graduated from IUSD schools. This will be Harrington’s 21st year teaching in IUSD, grades 9–12, EL, CP, AP, and summer school. She is hooked on history and wants her students to be, too. Her goal is to make her courses meaningful and memorable journeys in learning.
