Christine Bagneris
Visual Art Teacher, The Willow Middle School | New Orleans, LA

One of my main goals is to bring fresh, impactful content into the classroom—content that not only teaches technique but also encourages critical thinking, empathy, and self-expression. The ARTEFFECT program’s focus on exploring Unsung Heroes and integrating art with research and storytelling aligns perfectly with this vision.

Christine Bagneris is a dedicated art educator with a lifelong passion for creating and inspiring others through the visual arts. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Printmaking from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art from Xavier University of Louisiana. With over sixteen years of teaching experience, she has guided students of all ages and skill levels—from beginners to advanced artists—helping them build confidence and discover their unique creative voices. Bagneris is proficient in a wide range of 2D media, with a deep passion for printmaking. Her artistic practice is best known for abstract figurative work, featuring flat, colorful silhouettes set against dreamlike, ethereal backgrounds. Her compositions explore the psychological tension within figure/ground relationships, often reflecting themes of dual identity, otherness, fragmentation, and introspection. At the core of Bagneris’ teaching philosophy is the belief that art should be both expressive and therapeutic. She emphasizes practical, personalized approaches to artmaking, aiming to create an environment where students feel empowered to experiment, reflect, and grow. Christine is thrilled to share her enthusiasm and experience, guiding students as they develop their artistic skills and find joy in their creative journeys.
