I believe that being part of the ARTEFFECT Ambassadors fellowship will strengthen my ability to reach students in meaningful ways. Through this fellowship, I hope to refine my teaching practices, explore innovative methods of instruction, and integrate art more intentionally into my lessons.
Beth Overfield is a dedicated and passionate visual arts educator with more than seventeen years of professional experience guiding students in their creative and personal growth. She strives to cultivate classrooms where creativity, self-expression, and cultural appreciation are celebrated as essential components of learning. Her educational background includes a BS in Visual Arts from the University of Southern Indiana and an associate degree in Fashion Merchandising from Vincennes University. Since 2009, Overfield has been the Art Teacher at Nettle Creek Schools, where she develops engaging, student-centered lessons that expose learners to a wide variety of artistic styles, techniques, and cultural traditions. Her goal is always to help students recognize art as a universal language—one that not only fosters creativity but also builds empathy and cultural awareness. Beyond the classroom, Overfield leads an after-school art club, offering students extended opportunities to experiment with new media, collaborate with peers, and refine their artistic voices in a supportive environment. What continually drives her as an educator is the joy of watching students grow in confidence, think critically, and embrace their individuality through artistic exploration.
